I’d love to join the True Street ranks but as it was said many times last night True Street is mostly fords. If you think about that for a sec, all HT HK HG 2 & 4 door cars can only fit a max tyre of 255. So that’s 6 styles of car that will always struggle on smaller tyres to compete. How many other cars have mini tubbs
I walked the staging lanes last night and all True Street cars were running 275s , there was one Holden commodore. Oh and an amazing black Camaro on 295s.
The rules as I read them seem fine in general but there are heaps of NA mini tubbed cars running 275s that are not upto the standard of X275 but can’t get a start in True Street.
I will add I don’t think changing the rules to much will work, I mean if a guy is running in true street with twin carbs and sheet metal manifold, well he has invested $5k – $10k or all the guys already running a standard cam height so don’t penalise them by bring in a single carb rule or 50mm raised cam , as said earlier people will leave the bracket if there are changes made that financially disadvantage the people already running in the class.
If you/we want bigger numbers in this class then allowing mini tubbed cars with a max tyre size of 275s and not changing the rules that effect guys already in the class will allow a lot more new cars to join in and keep the current cars involved.
Oh and I guess I am biased as I have a HK runs 9.9 would love to give true street ago on. 275
In fact a couple of turbos and X275 might be a better option
I haven’t started to race as yet, I would have been at willowbank but for a small engine issue.
However when my engine was built mid last year, Janelle was number one running low 9’s . My whole set up had the capabilities to finish in the top 5. I figured around a 9.2 should have me chasing the number one spot.
12 months later, I will be lucky to be in the top 10. Sure I can still have fun in True street and I will, but it is a frustration to know the bracket has gone so much faster.
I don’t know the answer here as I love watching the 8sec cars race , they are amazing.
Never mind decision made
Well, it’s taken some time but he new engine has arrived..
Just need to get a new sump and extractors and we are ready
Well taken the big step, I have a new motor on the way. Will drive the HK deep into the nines , if the driver is capable that is 😯
Well shake down run complete , 11.5 @ 116, sort of what I expected. Bit more tweaking or maybe a bigger motor 😈
Talking to myself here but that’s cool 😆
Off to a test and tune at Willowbank , see how the HK goes
